Holiday Gift Guide: For All the Men in Your Life
On November 12, 2020 by Megan FolsomBy Austin Folsom
Today, I’m so excited to have my cute husband on the blog as a guest writer! Sometimes, I have such a hard time knowing what to get for him, because I know he’s so picky about brands and quality. I usually have to ask someone else like his dad about that stuff if I want it to be a surprise, because Austin knows his stuff and he knows exactly what he likes.
He has put together a list of his favorite gift ideas (with links) to help you shop for your husband, dad, brother, grandpa, uncle, co-worker, etc. Plus, Austin took the time to explain a little bit about why he recommends them and what he uses them for.
(There were definitely a few things I had to look up in the dictionary, but I bet it would impress the men in your life!)
Austin’s Gift List
#1 Slim Money Clip Wallet
Initially, I was so reluctant to try this wallet, but I’m so glad that I did! I always hated having my wallet in my back pocket, but thought it was more uncomfortable to have a folding wallet in my front pocket…Too bulky!
When I put this one in my front pocket, I hardly notice it’s there. Bonus, I no longer keep receipts and business card that I don’t need, because it isn’t as easy as just cramming them into the pouch of a standard bifold wallet. I would recommend this wallet to anyone!
#2 Buck Knives: A Pocket Knife for Everyday Carry
I’ve never been disappointed by any of my Buck knives. They’re made in the USA only 30 minutes from where we live and have the best lifetime warranty! If you have any issues at all, they will replace the knife for you.
This is a nice thin knife that doesn’t ad lots of bulk to your pocket. The clip is also tight to the knife and holds it securely in your pocket. This is the knife that I carry after work when we go out and on date nights.
#3 Yeti Tumbler
This tumbler keeps your drink hot or cold for HOURS. We both have our own that have lasted for several years in perfect condition! I’d also recommend purchasing this lid to change out on it.
#4 Radar detector
Having a bit of a lead foot makes this one a must-have in my car. This is the radar detector I currently use and it is top-notch! It’s saved me from getting tickets countless times. As far as a higher end detector goes, it’s also fairly affordable. This is a pretty user-friendly, plug-and-play detector.
#5 Over-Ear, Noise-Cancelling Headphones
I’ve worn these headphones almost everyday for over a year. I’m hard on them and they can get banged up getting in and out of the tractor. The battery life is fantastic; I can listen to podcasts, books, and music for two days at 8+ hours a day. With as hard as I am on things at work, I never expected them to last so long. Plus, I love using these for working out as well.
#6 Makita 12v Drill and Impact Driver
You cannot beat this bang for the buck! I bought this set to keep in the house, and am continually surprised at the power of these batteries.
While I was worried that I’d be disappointed switching from an 18v Makita set, that wasn’t the case. Often, I find myself using this over my 18v tools because they’re small, light and have the power to do most jobs.
Fun fact – the impact driver will actually drive a 3-inch screw slightly faster than my 18v. I was also surprised by this!
#7 Patriotic Flag BBQ Apron
This is a necessity when it comes to keeping your clothes clean and doing it in ‘Merican style!
#8 BBQ Accessories For Every Occasion
You don’t want to get caught in a pinch running around for that one utensil you thought you’d never need! Combined with the patriotic apron, you’ll be looking like a pro!
#9 Hammock
This hammock set up comes with everything needed for a camping trip in the mountains to a leisurely hammock sash in the park or backyard. Plus, it comes with tree straps and mosquito net at a very affordable price!
#10 Tactical Day Pack backpack
This day pack has room for everything that you would need on a day hike, hunting trip, or overnight stay somewhere. The model makes it very easy to attach odds and ends and add storage pouches if you want.
#11 Manscaped 3.0
This one is on my wishlist this year! I’ve watched several YouTube videos about it and it sounds awesome.
#12 Braun Series 3 Electric Shaver
If you’re like me, shaving is not your favorite, to say the least! To anyone who is using a traditional razor, you NEED to at least try this.
I’ve used this for over 5 years now. The few times that I’ve used a regular razor a in that 5 years, I have always regretted it. This gets a nice, close cut so that it feels smooth, but doesn’t dry out or irritate your skin with the tugging and pulling of a regular razor.
#13 Leather Toiletries Bag
Function and style come together here. It that looks good while and keeps everything all in one place. This is the exact one that I use!
I really like the design of the pouch on the bottom; it isn’t just one, deep bag that you have to dig through to find what you are looking for. It can’t be beat and stays organized with hardly any effort.
#14 Canvas Duffel Bag
This bag is perfect for an overnighter or a weekend away. With this bag, you will be looking like an experienced traveler with an eye for a clean looking bag.
#15 Dr. Squatch Soap
This all-natural soap with keep your skin clean and fresh without drying it out like other soaps with harmful chemicals in them. They have a variety of scents and types of soap to choose from with different benefits for your skin.
