Quick At-Home Pick-Me-Up Ideas to Help You Feel More Confident
On November 3, 2020 by Megan FolsomAs moms, it can be so hard to find time to take care of ourselves. It seems like our kids are always ready and looking so cute. But many days, we look in the mirror and realize we have forgotten to get ourselves ready. When I feel like a slob, I feel like I’ve lost myself and feel more embarrassed to leave in case I run into people I know. It always has a snowball effect and runs into other parts of my life and general sense of satisfaction. Luckily, I have some super easy go-to’s to help me feel more confident and feel like myself again. Some can be done within a few minutes, while multi-tasking, during naps or added to your shower routine!
Pamper Yourself:
Brow Dye.
Spruce up your eyebrows with a quick and super easy at-home dye kit. Read all about it here: How to Feel More Put Together for Weeks and Get Killer Eyebrows in Under 10 Minutes.
Self-Tanner.
I have a facial tanning oil for my neck and face that I add into my moisturizer once or twice a week. I also have two different ones I’ve liked for my body and legs. My favorite for beginners is this tanning lotion; it’s the first one I used, is easy to apply and is pretty forgiving. This tanning mousse gives a darker tan and is a little bit more tricky to learn, but still easy to perfect with a little practice. Be sure to grab a good applicator mitt like this one too!
Teeth Whitening.
There are so many ways to do this. I have these at-home strips that were recommended by a dental hygienist I follow on Instagram. She also recommended brushing with this medical-grade gel right after using the strips to prevent tooth sensitivity. You can also talk to your dentist about getting a tray made that fits your mouth and can usually buy a whitening gel from their office.
Face Mask.
This one is so quick and just makes you feel pampered! Plus, it helps your skin feel soft and smooth, especially in the harsh, cold air. I got this pack on a recommendation from a friend and have liked them so far as a very affordable option. (They have over 6,000 reviews and are 4.5 stars!) For higher price-point, I like these ones. Personally, I prefer sheet masks, because they make less of a mess and don’t require much effort to take off. You just rub in the extra serum and you’re good to go!
Hair Mask.
Hair masks are so easy to do in the shower while shaving or exfoliating or just relaxing in the bath. My favorite that I have tried so far is this one! One bottle lasts me a pretty long time.
Purple Shampoo.
No matter your hair color, this is another one that can be added to your shower routine between hair appointments. It’ll only add a couple of minutes to your shower time, but will help you feel refreshed with your vibrant, toned hair! This one is my favorite affordable option that was recommended to me by a blonde hairstylist a few years ago! I’ve been using it ever since and one bottle of this lasts me a long time too.
Gel Nails.
This is one self-care routine that helps you feel more put-together for a couple weeks at a time, which is so nice! It has been such a game-changer to have my own little kit at home, and has also saved me so much money. Of course, I still love to go to a salon and get pampered when I have extra time and a babysitter. But, this isn’t always the case, and I hated having to use nail polish at home that always chipped off quickly when I couldn’t make it to the salon.
There are so many options for gel polish, these are two sets that I personally have and love. To start out, this gel color set is the first one I bought. I recently added this one with more colors to my collection. When I get bored of the colors I have, this set is next on my wishlist. The UV light that I use to cure my nails between layers hasn’t had any issues and is under $17!!
Make sure to take a little bit of time for yourself this week! Boost your mood and your self-esteem by taking care of yourself. When you feel put together, you are usually also more satisfied and more productive throughout the week! What other ways do you pamper yourself at home when you don’t have hours to spend?
