What You Should Never Forget to Pack For A Play Date Outside
On April 23, 2021 by Megan FolsomIf you’re going to be outside with your littles, you definitely want to make sure that you’re prepared. I don’t think you need to go crazy and pack the whole house for a little outing, but you do want to cover your bases!
Even if your kid doesn’t end up needing them, it’s comforting to know that you’re prepared and you may be able to help someone else in need! While you might survive without most of these things for a couple hours by yourself, just remember that babies, toddlers and little kids are much more sensitive and temperamental.
If they get too hot, too cold, too hungry or too thirsty, you might have a huge meltdown on your hands. If there’s something sticky, an injury or a blow-out, you’ll definitely want to be prepared! Sun burns and dehydration in littles who can’t tell you what they’re feeling is also something to always be aware of and try your best to prevent.
When you’re out and about, it’s a good idea to pack these essentials in your diaper bag. I’d also consider having some of these items to permanently keep in your car, especially a first aid kit, for emergencies and last-minute outings.
What to Pack in Your Diaper Bag:
- A water bottle, sippy cup or baby bottle – I have a whole review on all of our favorite toddler water bottles
- Easy snacks, preferably ones that aren’t sticky or messy
- Extra diapers
- Baby wipes
- An extra jacket in case wind picks up or the temperature drops
- Bandaids
- Hat or baseball cap
- Sunscreen with high SPF (click for an automatic 10% off your first order!)
- Empty ziploc or grocery bags for dirty diapers, sticky toys and wet, dirty or sticky clothes and swimsuits
- You should also strongly consider keeping a first-aid kit in your car!
