Reviews of the Most Popular Water Bottles for Toddlers

toddler boy holding a steel water bottle for toddlers

I took it upon myself to test out 7 different water bottles for toddlers that I found on Amazon. This is my first kid and no matter what I research, there are always mixed reviews.

So, I ordered them all and was determined to find the best kids’ water bottles that don’t leak for him. We’re always tossing water bottles into my diaper bag on-the-go, so having a leak-proof water bottle is a must!

There are definitely pros and cons to each one, so I will let you know all of my honest thoughts, whether it was total love or hate. I’ll also include their Amazon rating and other water bottle size options.

(If my opinion changes at any point in the future, I’ll be sure to update my review on here too!)

A great toddler water bottle is definitely something to add to your toddler meal must-haves for easier clean-up!

Toddler Water Bottles

Contigo Water Bottles

Amazon Rating: 4.8 out of 5 stars (about 3.8k reviews)

Size Options: 13 oz

Price: $16.99

Pros:

I really love that this one can be washed in the dishwasher! That’s definitely one of the biggest pros or cons about me when it comes to water bottles.

Fortunately, we haven’t experienced any leaking this one. Plus, they don’t need to bite straw for water to come out, so it’s easy to use!

Cons:

The biggest downside to the Contigo water bottles is that they’re too wide to fit into the carseat cup holder, unfortunately. There also aren’t a whole lot of color, design or size options available at the moment.

CamelBak Water Bottles

Amazon Rating: 4.4 stars out of 5 (over 2.5k reviews)

Size Options: 14 oz

Price: $15-$18

Pros:

One of the biggest pros of this water bottle is that it’s the perfect size around. It’s small enough to fit in carseat cup holder!

Surprisingly, the instructions say that it’s also a dishwasher safe water bottle, even with the stickers on it. Ours has gone through the dishwasher several times and we haven’t had any peeling or issues.

Cons:

Unfortunately, this water bottle can if it’s turned upside down for awhile and the straw is open. (My toddler like to do this in his carseat on purpose, and then his bottoms are pretty wet by the time we get out).

Also, you do have to bite down on the straw to get any water out, which can be tricky to teach younger kids.

Snug Water Bottles

Amazon Rating: 4.7 stars out of 5 (over 12.6k reviews)

Size Options: 12 oz and 17 oz

Price: $15.99-$17.99

Pros:

The snug water bottles have a really easy button for them to press to open the straw. We really love that this one fits into our car seat cup holder, too, and we haven’t experienced leaking so far!

Cons:

The straw on this water bottle is pretty thin. Unfortunately, none of the parts are dishwasher safe. It’s more difficult harder, but not impossible, to take apart to clean all the pieces.

Simple Modern Water Bottles

Amazon Rating: 4.8 stars out of 5 (almost 8k reviews)

Size Options: 10 oz, 14 oz and 18 oz

Price: $15-$19

Pros:

These water bottles are available in the cutest designs, especially for girls. Plus, they can go in dishwasher AND they fit in the carseat cup holders!

Cons:

Unfortunately, I’ve found that this kids’ water bottle leaks if it’s left laying down flat for awhile. Personally, I don’t love that the straw is solid plastic, which means it’s very hard and not flexible at all.

Steel Munchkin Water Bottles

Amazon Rating: 4.6 stars out of 5 (over 4.4k reviews)

Size Options: 8 oz

Price: $12.70-$15

Pros:

Again, this one is a dishwasher-safe water bottle, which is always a huge win for me! Plus, they don’t need to bite or manipulate the straw at all to get water out.

Unlike any of the others so far, this water bottle has handles, which can be easier for the littles. It comes in a few different, simple color options with no crazy designs or stickers.

Cons:

This one also has a tiny straw, and it doesn’t fit as much water in comparison. Both of these might make it a great option for younger toddlers only, and not a great long-term option.

Plastic Munchkin Water Bottles

Amazon Rating: 4.4 stars out of 5 (over 34.4k reviews)

Size Options: 7 oz

Price: $7

Pros:

This is the number one best seller in toddler cups on Amazon! (It doesn’t appear that the stainless steel water bottles fall under that ranking category).

They are much more lightweight than the steel ones, so they’re lighter to carry in a diaper bag and easier for them to carry around. good starting cup. These ones have handles and flexible, weighted straws, and are a great trainer water bottle.

In our experience, they don’t leak a ton. However, I have heard others complain about them leaking a lot. They are also dishwasher-safe!

Cons:

Unfortunately, I have found that they grow black mold much more easily. The straw is flexible and part of it is very thin, so it’s nearly impossible to get mold out once its in the straw.

There are so many cracks and crevices that get food and stuff stuck in on the outside of the lid. Plus, these aren’t insulated, meaning that it doesn’t keep the liquids hot or cold very long.

As mentioned above, I have heard and read other reviews of people complaining about this water bottle leaking.

I’d love to know your thoughts! Have you tried any of these out before? What has been your favorite or which water bottles have you hated?
